Musician Buchaman has asked to join the Uganda Musicians Association(UMA) board saying that his involvement at that level will help him fight drug use in the music industry.
“I’m the right person to fight the vice because I know all the different types of drugs used by musicians. How can the current board fight drugs when they don’t know a lot about the problem,” he says.
Buchaman says drug abuse increased in the industry due to the effects of Covid-19.
“Many musicians learned to abuse drugs during Covid-19, they had nothing to do. And also the lack of money. People are depressed,” he says
UMA recently suggested that they are planning on constructing a rehab centre to help musicians struggling to quit.
