Every electoral season, the arts sector in Uganda loses talented personalities to politics, and many of them have never looked back.

Even this year, different artists have already expressed interest in joining politics, and many have already confirmed their candidature for different positions.

Among those is Nina Kakunda, also known as Nina Roz, who is contesting for the position of Sembabule District Woman Member of Parliament.

The singer already returned the nomination forms for the position at the party headquarters, as she intends to go into general elections with the NUP ticket.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station on Monday this week, Nina Roz revealed reasons for her candidature in Sembabule.

The singer says she intends to represent the vulnerable women, the widows, and the voiceless.

She explained that a lot of injustice is taking place in Sembabule district, and she wants to be the people's voice, especially for those who have lost their land.

"I want to represent the vulnerable women, the widows, the ones without a voice, the women who have had their land taken from them. There is a lot happening in Sembabule, and I urge the youth to stand up and choose what is best for their future," she explained.

The singer is however banking on the support of the youths to see her go to the twelfth parliament of Uganda.
