Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, alias Bobi Wine, the president of the National Unity Platform, on Wednesday submitted his expression of interest to contest for the presidency of Uganda under the NUP banner.
Bobi Wine, accompanied by his wife Barbra Itungo and son, was welcomed by hundreds of enthusiastic supporters at the NUP headquarters.
The NUP President was also accompanied by Eddie Mutwe's mother and the mother of Yasin Sekitoleko, also known as Machete, among other relatives of different political prisoners.
While addressing journalists, Bobi Wine explained he is on a mission to unseat President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from power and will not relent until it is accomplished.
He says despite missing out on the last general elections, which took place in 2021, he hasn't given up and expects to win in January 2026.
He rallied his supporters to continue spreading the gospel of the protest vote, expressing that he will give President Museveni a run for his money.
The National Unity Platform's elections management committee revealed that only Bobi Wine has so far expressed interest in carrying the party flag for the 2026 general elections.
It should be noted that in 2021, Bobi Wine lost to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the highly contested elections.
He petitioned the court to nullify President Museveni's win, but the Supreme Court threw out the petition.
