Earlier this month, musician Stecia Mayanja was elected party president of the National Peasants Party at a ceremony that took place in Nasana Municipality in Wakiso district.
Her election as party president received criticism from a section of the opposition, mostly supporters of the National Unity Platform, who accused her of working with President Museveni.
They claimed she had joined politics to fight Bobi Wine and prolong President Yoweri Museveni's long stay in office.
Stecia Mayanja has since responded to the allegations, revealing she is not in politics to fight Bobi Wine but rather to work to remove President Museveni from leadership.
The musician explained that she, along with other opposition leaders, should work to bring change to the country instead of fighting one another.
"I am not fighting Bobi Wine, and I can’t fight him. My fight is with Museveni, the elephant that can’t be hunted by one person alone. Let me chase him from this side, as Bobi Wine chases from the other. Together, we shall defeat him," she explained in an interview with a local television station.
Stecia Mayanja also confirmed her aspirations for the highest office in the country.
