It's high stakes in the Kawempe South poll as opposing forces continue to grow against one another in the constituency.

The battle for the NUP party ticket continues to divide its members. The battle is on between Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu and Roy Ssemboga.

Over the weekend, a video emerged on social media showing an angry mob attacking Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, allegedly in the Bwaise suburb of Kawempe South constituency.

Angry voices are heard shouting at Chairman Nyanzi, as many of them allege he is not a voter in the constituency. They claim he has no permanent house and should not be seeking to represent them in Parliament.

They want the electoral management committee of the National Unity Platform to award the party ticket to Roy Ssemboga, the former Guild President of Makerere University.

Despite criticism on the ground, Chairman Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu remains the favorite to receive the endorsement from the biggest opposition political party because he is a brother to the party President and also a very influential member of the party.

It should be noted that Roy Ssemboga contested against Kazibwe Bashir in the 2021 general elections in the same constituency and lost.
