Over the weekend, popular NUP foot soldier John Bosco Sserunkuma pulled out of the race for Nansana Municipality MP and endorsed media personality Zambali Bulasio Mukasa.
Sserunkuma also announced his intention to contest for the mayorship of Nansana Municipality.
He explained that after various discussions with party members in Nansana Municipality, he decided to quit the MP race and endorse Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, revealing he will champion the wishes of his supporters.
"I have made this decision after deliberate discussions with my voters, the members of NUP in Nansana, and all the concerned people. I have quit the MP race and am endorsing Zambali Bulasio Mukasa for the MP position. I will run for the mayorship of the division," he explained.
Sserunkuma also denied allegations of receiving money from Zambali Bulasio Mukasa to quit the race.
"I have not been bought, as per allegations. I took the decision for the good of my people and my party," he added.
The main battle for the NUP party ticket in the Nansana Municipality MP race now remains between Ibrahim Mayanja, alias Big Eye, and Zambali Bulasio Mukasa.
Anticipation for the NUP party tickets continues to grow across the country as they will be given out this month following a selection process by the party's elections management committee.
