Musician John Blaq has extensive knowledge of the Ugandan music industry. He has been in the industry long enough to understand its various dynamics.

The singer has previously experienced musical struggles but has also seen success throughout his career.

According to John Blaq, a single hit song does not guarantee financial success, nor does it come with the big paycheck many people believe it does.

The singer explained that he personally used to take taxis even after releasing two hit songs. He said his first big paycheck came with his third song, "Obubadi," which he says brought him financial freedom.

"One hit song doesn't guarantee financial success. People always call out artists for using motorcycles after releasing a hit song, but it's tough. You need at least three songs because, personally, I used to take a taxi to visit my parents even after releasing my songs. That's when I actually started receiving big money from bookings," he explained.

John Blaq also advised artists to live within their means despite pressure from fans, critics, and fellow creatives.
