Musician Eddy Kenzo has finally spoken out about the alleged fallout between him and fellow artiste Bebe Cool over funds reportedly meant for musicians during President Museveni’s campaigns.

For nearly a week, reports have circulated claiming that Kenzo blocked the NRM Secretariat from releasing money to Bebe Cool. According to the allegations, Kenzo instead proposed a cheaper alternative through the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) — suggesting that regional artistes should join campaign activities across the country to cut costs.

This reportedly didn’t sit well with Bebe Cool and other musicians, including Gravity Omutujju, Jose Chameleone, and Catherine Kusasira, sparking tension between the two camps.

However, Kenzo has now come out to clear the air, insisting he never stopped the Secretariat from funding Bebe Cool, but only advised the party to include regional artistes in the campaign plan.

“I never stopped the party from releasing funds to Bebe Cool because he’s the one still in charge. I only wanted the government to also cater for regional artistes — that’s what I’m mandated to do. When I was invited to the Secretary General’s office, I advised them to get five regional artistes to join the top ones from Kampala at every campaign rally, and they accepted the idea,” he explained.

Kenzo added that he has no problem with Bebe Cool, emphasizing that the two continue to work together for the good of the NRM and President Museveni.
