Musician Eddy Kenzo, real name Edirisa Musuuza, has hinted at stepping down as President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), a position he has held since the federation’s inception in 2023.

In an audio clip making rounds online, Kenzo expressed deep frustration over ongoing disputes between the federation and the Ministry of Finance, revealing that he is ready to quit due to what he termed as “disorganization and sabotage.”

According to Kenzo, the Ministry of Finance has allegedly declined to release the UGX 5 billion meant for the musicians’ SACCO under UNMF management. Instead, the ministry is reportedly opting to channel the funds directly to various musicians’ associations — a move Kenzo says undermines the federation’s purpose and fuels divisions among artists.

“There is a lot of pressure between us and the Ministry of Finance, but they are the bigger body. I can’t continue working in this kind of disorganization. These music fights will never stop because they’re sponsored and backed by some leaders in government,” Kenzo said.

He further revealed plans to formally resign once he returns from Acholi, stating that he can no longer operate in an environment full of confusion and conflict.

“When I come back from Acholi, I’ll submit my resignation. I can’t continue in this situation — I hope you guys can find someone else to take it from here,” he added.

Kenzo’s statement has sparked widespread debate within the entertainment industry, with many wondering what the future holds for the UNMF under the current turbulence.
