St. Francis Hospital Nsambya has refuted circulating social media reports claiming that Ugandan singer Olisha M (real name Olivia Mildred Namubiru) died at the hospital while giving birth.

Over the weekend, rumors spread online alleging that the “Ebiwooma” hitmaker had passed away on Friday evening after developing complications during childbirth at Nsambya Hospital.

However, in an official statement released on Sunday evening, the hospital dismissed the claims, clarifying that Olisha M was not one of their patients and that no such incident occurred on their premises.

“Nsambya Hospital takes maternal health seriously, and our hearts go out to the affected family. After a thorough investigation, we confirm that the tragic incident did not occur at our hospital. Ms. Namubiru Olivia Mildred, also known as Olisha, was not a patient here,” the statement read in part.

The hospital further urged the public to stop spreading false information and to verify facts before sharing unconfirmed news.

Olisha M rose to fame with hits like “Ebiwooma” featuring Kent & Flosso and “Gwenjagala.” Her signature blend of Afrobeat, dancehall, and R&B earned her recognition as one of Uganda’s most promising young female artists.

Despite the clarification, tributes have continued to pour in across social media as fans and fellow musicians mourn her passing, which has once again sparked discussions about maternal health challenges in Uganda.

Her untimely death marks a heartbreaking loss to the Ugandan music industry, cutting short a talent that was only beginning to flourish.
