Former NTV Uganda news anchor Farida Nakazibwe has sparked controversy online after boldly stating that speaking English doesn’t attract money but brokenness.

During an interview with a local YouTuber, the seasoned media personality argued that the English language is overrated and no longer defines success as it did in the past.

“The English language doesn’t make money. If you want to stay broke, keep speaking English,” Farida stated.

She urged Ugandans to embrace and value their local languages, saying the focus should be on substance and hard work, not accent or fluency in English.

Her remarks have since ignited a heated debate online, with some people agreeing with her while others dismissed her views as misleading.

Farida Nakazibwe spent over ten years at NTV Uganda, where she anchored Luganda news and hosted the popular morning show Mwasuze Mutya. She resigned last year to focus on her personal life but remains one of the most respected female journalists in Uganda.
