Media personality Sasha Ferguson confirmed her separation from journalist Canary Mugume, alleging their marriage collapsed due to domestic violence and struggles with substance abuse.
She revealed she is now raising their children alone after enduring pain in silence for years.
Sasha made the revelations through emotional posts on Snapchat, where she encouraged women to walk away from abusive relationships and prioritize their safety and that of their children.

However, Canary Mugume has now publicly defended himself, denying the allegations and claiming he was the one suffering domestic violence throughout the marriage.
In a lengthy statement, Canary explained that he remained silent for a long time because men are expected to “stay strong” in society, but he now feels compelled to correct the narrative.

“I am part of the unreported statistics of men who experience domestic violence from partners with uncontrolled anger issues. I restrained myself despite all provocations and assaults. I have evidence of myself bleeding after being assaulted.” he stated.
Canary also dismissed claims that he is an irresponsible father, revealing he has been denied access to his children for ten months despite sending financial support every month.
“I have seen my children only once in the last ten months, yet I continued sending money monthly — an amount set by her. I have messages saying ‘thank you’ and receipts.”
He revealed that he went to court and won custody, but the ruling has allegedly never been enforced because of interference.
“Custody was granted on grounds of desertion — the mother had left them in a locked apartment with a maid while she traveled overseas. Since January, I have been denied access despite third parties intervening.”
Canary concluded by urging men facing similar situations to speak up, saying remaining silent nearly destroyed him.
