Ugandan football is witnessing a blockbuster moment as Vipers SC are reportedly set to pocket over 1 billion Uganda shillings following the imminent transfer of star midfielder Allan Okello to Tanzanian giants Young Africans (Yanga SC).

According to reports from football corridors, the deal between the two clubs has been fully agreed, with Okello also giving the green light for the move. The KCCA Academy graduate is believed to have already played his final match for Vipers in their 2–0 victory over Mbarara City earlier this week.

Sources indicate that Yanga have committed approximately $300,000 for the Ugandan international — a massive statement signing for the Tanzanian champions as they strengthen their squad for a deeper run in the CAF Champions League.

Adding more weight to the deal, Yanga president Hersi Said reportedly flew into Uganda on Friday and held decisive talks with Vipers boss Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa, sealing the agreement.

Since joining Vipers in September 2023 as a free agent after leaving Algerian side AC Paradou, Okello has delivered silverware, helping the Kitende-based club lift both the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup, while cementing himself as one of the league’s most influential creators.

At Yanga, Okello will follow in the footsteps of fellow Ugandans Steven Bengo, Emmanuel Okwi, Diego Hamis, and Khalid Aucho, all of whom have previously featured for the Jangwani outfit.

For years, Allan Okello has been the face of Ugandan football — and his departure now leaves a huge creative void at Vipers as one era closes and another begins across the border.
