TikToker Nansubuga Aisha, popularly known as Luwilight, has been released after spending several weeks on remand at Luzira Prison.

Luwilight had been appearing in court over charges related to misinformation and hate speech, a case that had attracted public attention, especially after singer Bebe Cool publicly weighed in on the matter.

During her time on remand, the digital content creator parted ways with Dahan Advocates and appointed Mugambwa, Muneeza and Company Advocates as her new legal representatives.

Hours after officially taking over the case, the new legal team successfully pushed for her release, and she was set free later that evening.

Speaking to journalists outside court, her lawyers revealed that the matter had been settled and would not proceed further. According to one of the representatives, the Constitution encourages reconciliation, noting that power ultimately rests with the people.

“It all comes from the agreement between the parties, and the court is just there to confirm that no one has been forced to sign the agreement. It is the court’s role to prove that the agreement was not made forcefully. In law, there is always a winner and a loser, and in this case, it was reconciliation. It is a public document, but I cannot share it. However, you can go to court and see about it,” he said.

The case has now been resolved on grounds of reconciliation, bringing an end to Luwilight’s legal troubles — at least for now.
