Media personality-turned-politician Bashir Kazibwe has clarified his status in the National Unity Platform (NUP), confirming that he remains a member of the party.
Speaking in a recent interview, Kazibwe said he is still actively aligned with the party’s principles and objectives, despite keeping a distance from its day-to-day activities at the headquarters.
“I am still a member of the National Unity Platform. I am very active and fully subscribe to its values. I chose to stay away from the headquarters for my own reasons, but I remain committed to the party,” he said.
Kazibwe also noted that he is currently not in direct contact with NUP leader Bobi Wine, although he continues to hold him in high regard.
The Kawempe South legislator entered Parliament on the NUP ticket in 2021 but later distanced himself from party operations, prompting speculation that he had shifted allegiance to the ruling NRM—claims he has consistently denied.
