Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze has praised singer Sheebah Karungi for bravely opening up about the serious health complications she faced after giving birth.
Sheebah recently shared her experience on her podcast, “Let’s Talk About It,” where she revealed the painful challenges she went through after welcoming her son, Amir.
According to the singer, she suffered severe post-birth complications that required surgery and a long recovery period, affecting both her personal life and music career.
Nambooze Hails Her Courage
Reacting to the revelation, Nambooze said Sheebah’s decision to speak publicly about such a personal struggle was both brave and important.
“What Sheebah has done is commendable because many women go through postpartum health complications but have no voice and are afraid to speak. When a public figure speaks out, it gives others hope and helps create awareness around these issues,” Nambooze said.
Breaking The Silence
The legislator noted that postpartum complications remain a silent struggle for many women, with fear and stigma often stopping them from seeking help.
She believes Sheebah’s story will help create more awareness around maternal health and encourage other women to speak out and seek support.
The conversation has since sparked wider discussions about postpartum care and maternal health awareness in Uganda.
