Socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has hit back at critics who claim her wealth and success are largely the result of an inheritance from her late former husband, Ivan Semwanga.
Zari dismissed the narrative, insisting that her success was not handed to her and that she played a major role in building the wealth and businesses she manages today.
Speaking on TikTok, Zari said her journey with Semwanga began when they had very little and that they worked together to build what eventually became a successful empire.
“I don't know about inheritance. I am managing a legacy I built from scratch. I built everything with Ivan Semwanga. You are consoling yourself on me, but I had to do the work and everything,” she said.
‘We Started in a Tiny Room’
Zari also took a trip down memory lane, recalling the humble beginnings she shared with Semwanga before their fortunes grew.
According to the socialite, the couple started their journey in a small room and gradually built their businesses and lifestyle over the years.
“We built this with him from way back. We started in a tiny room. I was behind the success of Semwanga. I am a smart woman,” she added.
Zari's comments come as she continues to face criticism from people who question the source of her wealth and the extent of her contribution to the fortune she accumulated during her relationship with Semwanga.
