The Police are searching for a UPDF driver who shot and killed a Boda Boda rider at Kawanda Secondary School in Wakiso District on Friday.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police, the deceased is identified as Ronald Waliggo who was riding a motorcycle registration number UEG 721C while the suspect is Abdul Ssali who was driving a UPDF vehicle, a Land Cruiser H4DF 1939.

Eyewitnesses allege that Ssali and Waliggo got into an altercation when Ssali was leaving the school premises after picking up one of the students in Senior Three.

Ssali allegedly met a number of motorcycles and cars at the gate, and the road being narrow, this prompted him to squeeze into the side where the deceased had parked.

Waligo complained to the driver about being squeezed which attracted a big group of riders that also condemned the driver’s actions.

This prompted the driver to enter his vehicle where he picked up an AK47 and shot at Waliggo killing him instantly. Ssali later sped off from the scene.

Owoyesigyire adds that they were able to identify Ssali and the vehicle he was driving, with the help of CCTV cameras. Waligo was shot in the left shoulder and the bullet came out from the right shoulder.

Police will liaise with the UPDF to help bring in the driver.
