The lecturers at the university are on a sit down strike following the court’s decision that saw the embattled Kyambogo University Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaiah Ndiege back to office.

Kampala Metropolitan Police commander Alex Felix Kawesi, Ministry Education Officials and some Kyambogo University staff are locked up in a meeting to decide on the matter and could even temporarily close the institution.

According to an insider who is in the meeting, the state minister for higher Education Dr. JC Muyingo said that they have to respect the rule of law.

“We have to respect the rule of law. Prof Ndiege will stay on like the High Court ruled,” said Muyingo.

In a meeting that was held yesterday at Kyambogo between Kyambogo University Lectures and the University council, the lecturers vowed to continue with the strike unless the embattled vice chancellor Prof. Isaiah Ndiege resigns from his position.
