Media personality Flavia Namulidwa is contesting for the position of Member of Parliament for Gomba East constituency.

The former Bukedde Television host has already expressed interest in running under the National Unity Platform party and has returned her nomination documents.

Namulidwa has now ruled out running independently for the position and says she will support whoever is given the party ticket.

She explained that she has much belief in and respect for the party. She believes the elections management committee will do a good job and the right person will be given the ticket to run against other individuals in the general elections next year.

"I have much belief in my party, and I respect the elections committee. I know they will do a good job and expect them to choose the right person for the position. I will not be running independently if not given the ticket, though I hope to be successful," she explained.

Namulidwa, however, believes she has all the requirements and will be successful in winning the party ticket.

The media personality is facing competition from Eddy Yawe, among other individuals who have also expressed interest in running for the position under the National Unity Platform.

Namulidwa returned to the country this year after spending over five years in the United States of America, where she had gone for "green pastures" (seeking better opportunities).
