Hussein Muyonjo, popularly known as Swegere, has said he will continue with his comedy career even after officially joining the 11th Parliament as the Member of Parliament for Jinja City Northern Division.

Swegere, who was elected last week, is expected to be sworn in this May. However, he insists that politics will not stop him from doing what made him popular.

“Just before we started our campaigns, Bukedde TV offered me a new contract, which I intend to honor. I will continue doing my comedy skits and balance both my parliamentary duties and my entertainment career,” Swegere said in an interview with a local YouTuber.

The comedian-turned-politician believes it is possible to successfully manage both roles and pointed out that other public figures have done the same.

He cited Bobi Wine as an example, noting that the NUP leader continued releasing music even while serving as a Member of Parliament.

Swegere says he remains committed to serving his constituents while also staying connected to the fans who supported him long before he entered politics.
