Musician-turned-politician Buken Ali, popularly known as Nubian Li, was in January declared the Mayor-elect of Nakawa Division after securing a landslide victory in the recent elections.
His wife, Mutoni Shiko, who joined active politics before Nubian Li, has expressed strong confidence in her husband’s leadership, saying he will deliver beyond expectations.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Mutoni described Nubian Li as a dedicated servant leader who is committed to improving the lives of residents in Nakawa Division.
“I am very confident in him. He was given the mandate by the people and he will serve effectively. I know he is a leader and a servant who will deliver beyond the expectations of many people,” Mutoni Shiko said.
Mutoni also noted that Nubian Li understands the challenges facing Nakawa and is ready to work closely with stakeholders to bring meaningful change to the division.
It should be noted that Mutoni Shiko has been serving as the Deputy Mayor of Nakawa Division since May 2021, making her one of the key political figures supporting Nubian Li’s leadership journey.
