Musician Lil Pazo has shared his views on Joshua Baraka's recent performance at the Afro Nation festival, saying the young singer should focus more on Uganda's local music scene before pursuing international audiences.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Lil Pazo claimed that Baraka's performance was scheduled during the daytime when many festivalgoers had not yet arrived.
"They made him perform during the day when most people hadn't even arrived. He should come back home and make music for the local audience that enjoys it. He should come back to the ground and do music with the likes of us," he explained.
According to Lil Pazo, Joshua Baraka should prioritize building a stronger local fan base instead of concentrating on international performances.
"What are you looking for from international events? You should come back down. The whole situation embarrassed Ugandans and Ugandan artists, both at home and abroad," he added.
Lil Pazo's comments come amid ongoing debate among music fans over whether Ugandan artists should first establish a stronger presence at home before aggressively pursuing international recognition.
