Veteran musician Mesach Semakula has finally broken his silence on the ongoing paternity and DNA controversy surrounding the late Paul Job Kafeero, explaining why he has chosen not to comment until now.
Speaking during a recent interview with a local television station, Semakula said he deliberately stayed silent because he refuses to speak on matters he has no firsthand knowledge of.
The singer revealed that although he shared a close friendship with Kafeero and stood by him during his final days—including visiting him at Mulago Hospital before his death—he was never involved in the late musician's private life.
"I knew Kafeero, but I didn't know his bedroom," Semakula said, emphasizing that friendship does not automatically mean knowing every aspect of a person's personal life.
Semakula added that throughout the years they spent together, he never witnessed the behavior that some people now attribute to Kafeero, including allegations that he had relationships with numerous women.
The veteran musician also criticized the growing tendency of people to comment on sensitive family matters without firsthand knowledge.
According to Semakula, those who were genuinely close to Kafeero's personal and family life are in a better position to speak on such issues, while everyone else should avoid speculation.
