Singer Nina Roz, real name Nina Kakunda, has urged young people to use social media responsibly, warning against individuals who deliberately mislead the public, distort information and use online platforms to attack others.
Speaking about the growing influence of social media, Nina Roz called on young people to be more cautious about the content they consume and the people they engage with online.
The singer argued that some individuals deliberately manipulate statements made by public figures and use social media to create confusion and unnecessary controversy.
"There is a section of individuals who want to spoil and use social media the wrong way. But I urge the fellow youth to be keen and observant of such individuals with such characters. I beg we be very useful and truthful in this nation," she said.
Nina Roz further encouraged social media users to use their platforms for constructive discussions rather than trolling, insulting or belittling others.
"We run social media, so I call upon everyone to use it meaningfully. We should avoid those who want to use it to troll and belittle others," she added.
Her remarks come amid growing concerns over the spread of misleading information and online attacks, with social media increasingly becoming a major platform for public debate and entertainment in Uganda.
