Music producer and singer Daddy Andre has challenged Western Uganda's music powerhouse Ray G to take his career to the next level by conquering the rest of the country.
Ray G has established himself as one of the biggest names in Western Uganda, with a loyal fanbase that has repeatedly demonstrated its support for the singer.
His recent concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala, organised by Abtex and produced by Fenon Events, further demonstrated the strength of his following, with fans travelling from Western Uganda to attend the show.
But according to Daddy Andre, Ray G has already proven that he has a strong regional following.
“Now Conquer the Country”
Daddy Andre believes the bigger challenge is convincing music lovers in Central, Eastern and Northern Uganda to embrace Ray G in the same way his Western Uganda fans have.
For the producer, becoming a truly national artiste requires Ray G to move beyond the comfort of his regional fanbase without abandoning the identity that made him successful.
One way of achieving this, he suggests, is through collaborations with artistes from different parts of Uganda.
Working with musicians from Central, Eastern and Northern Uganda could expose Ray G to new audiences while helping him establish connections beyond his traditional market.
More Shows, More Music
Daddy Andre also believes Ray G needs to perform more frequently outside Western Uganda.
Regular shows in different parts of the country would allow him to interact directly with new audiences and gradually build a nationwide following.
He further encouraged the singer to create music capable of connecting with Ugandans across different regional backgrounds.
Ray G's Western Uganda dominance is no longer in question.
The next test, according to Daddy Andre, is whether the singer can turn that regional success into nationwide stardom.
