Veteran music producer Washington has named some of the producers he believes have made a significant contribution to Uganda's music industry, praising both established and emerging talents for shaping the country's sound.
Speaking about producers doing exceptional work, Washington singled out Michael Fingers, Steve Jeans and Andrew Ahuura among those he considers outstanding contributors to Uganda's music scene.
He also praised Benon Mugumbya of Swangz Avenue, Producer Rinex and Banger Boy, who also works with Swangz Avenue, for their work in the industry.
Washington Tips Axon to Work With More Artistes
Washington further recognised producer Axon, who is known for his close working relationship with singer Joshua Baraka, but encouraged him to expand his collaborations beyond one artiste.
“Step out and work with other artists too. Bless them with your sound so that our whole industry can sound beautiful and vibrant,” he advised.
Washington explained that working with a wider range of artistes allows producers to contribute more broadly to the development of the industry and expose their sound to different audiences.
Reflecting on his own career, the veteran producer said he deliberately worked with numerous artistes across Uganda and East Africa rather than limiting himself to a small circle.
“I covered everyone including Nairobi, Rwanda and the rest of East Africa,” he shared.
Washington cited his previous work with artistes including Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru and Juliana Kanyomozi, among others, as examples of his approach to collaboration.
