Former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among’s X account has undergone a sudden change, with its previous handle replaced and past posts deleted, raising questions about what happened to the prominent profile.
The account, previously known as @AnitahAmong, appeared to have changed its handle overnight to @GlobalAfricaHQ. As of Sunday morning, the profile displayed an “Unable to load” message, according to reports. <escape></escape>
Among previously used the account to share parliamentary updates, public statements and messages to her constituents.
A screenshot of an earlier search listing showed the profile under her name with more than 613,000 followers. The account description identified her as Speaker of the 11th Parliament and Bukedea District Woman MP, with a join date of November 2020.
The sudden changes have prompted concerns that the account may have been hijacked. However, there has been no public confirmation establishing whether it was compromised, transferred or deliberately rebranded.
Meanwhile, Among’s Instagram account remains active. Her last post, according to the reports, was published on May 12, congratulating President Yoweri Museveni on his inauguration.
The reason behind the changes to her X account remains unclear.
