Musician Eddy Kenzo has maintained that his festival is the biggest music event ever held in Uganda, pointing to the nationwide reach of the main show at Kololo Independence Grounds and the Road to Eddy Kenzo Festival concerts staged across the country.
Kenzo said he ranks the festival number one because it extended beyond the main venue, attracting audiences through events held in different parts of Uganda.
“To me, I rank it number one because it was all over the country,” he said.
The Big Talent boss argued that music events should be assessed partly by the number of people they reach. In his view, combining attendance at the main festival with audiences from the Road to Eddy Kenzo Festival shows produces a crowd too large to fit into any single venue in Uganda.
Responding to critics who have questioned his claim, Kenzo acknowledged that people are entitled to their opinions but urged them to examine the available figures before dismissing his argument.
“When you type Road to Eddy Kenzo Festival and Eddy Kenzo Festival Kololo on YouTube, you’ll be able to see the numbers I’m talking about,” he said.
He encouraged those who disagree with his ranking to search for the festival recordings on YouTube and assess the figures for themselves.
Kenzo’s remarks present his case for ranking the festival as Uganda’s biggest music event, although the claim depends on how attendance and audience reach are measured.
