Former city tycoon Bryan White has threatened legal action against Bukedde, accusing the media house of publishing false information and engaging in what he describes as a campaign to damage his reputation amid his ongoing court case.
White was granted Shs10 million cash bail by the High Court on September 4, but reportedly remained in prison as efforts continued to raise the required amount.
Reports subsequently suggested that he was struggling to secure the bail money. However, White accused Bukedde of spreading misleading information about his situation while he was dealing with legal and health challenges.
During a phone call with Bukedde TV entertainment presenter Simo Omunene, White expressed frustration over the coverage and singled out an employee whom he accused of repeatedly publishing malicious information about him.
“Bukedde, I will sue you. You have disrespected me for a long time. I am in hospital, and you're still spreading falsehoods. I have kept quiet for long, and your boss, Don Wanyama, collaborates with those fighting me,” he said.
White also appealed to other media houses to stop reporting negatively about him, insisting that journalists could verify his whereabouts by visiting the hospital where he says he is receiving treatment.
“If you can't appreciate what I did, then leave me alone. Come and check at Medipal and see for yourself if I'm not at the hospital. I'm very disappointed with you,” he added.
White's threat of legal action follows his objections to the reports surrounding his bail and health situation. The allegations he has made against Bukedde and its management have not been independently established.
