Band musician Sophie Nantongo is one of the legendary artists in that genre who remain influential in the music industry even without releasing fresh songs.
The singer however appreciates the current crop of artists and has mentioned Sheebah Karungi and Winnie Nwagi as her best.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Nantongo explained the two artists have been outstanding and have defied the odds to make it to the top.
"The industry is dominated by male artists, but the female artists have put up a fight. They have defied the odds and remain a force to be reckoned with. For example, Sheebah and Winnie Nwagi, they have been outstanding, and we need to appreciate them for being brave and standing up for their gender," she explained in an interview with a local television station.
Sophie Nantongo was speaking ahead of her concert scheduled to take place on May 2nd, at Serena Hotel in Kampala.
