Bobi Wine's music colleague and the head of the Arts sector in the National Unity Platform, Buken Ali, also known as Nubian Li, is happy that the government now respects artists.
The singer, who has turned politician, explained that before Bobi Wine joined politics, the government never respected artists; they merely used them as a mobilization tool.
He says the government now takes music seriously because it created the strongest opposition against them.
"The government has started taking the music industry seriously because it created the strongest opposition against them, led by Bobi Wine. Before that, they viewed music merely as a tool for mobilization," he explained in an interview with NTV Uganda.
Nubian Li adds that he will not give up on music despite expressing interest in the Nakawa Mayorship position.
He says music is his first love and he will continue to cherish it. He didn't do it for money, but for love.
"Music will remain a part of my life even if I go into politics. I did not go into music for the money. I did it because of my love for music. The money was a bonus," he explained.
