Back in April, music veteran Bebe Cool ignited a firestorm with his controversial claims about controlling music airplay in Uganda. He even went as far as to suggest that rising stars owe their airplay to "influential people" like him, advising them to show "maximum respect" to industry elders.
Bebe Cool's Boast: "I Control Airplay!"
Bebe Cool, known for his strong opinions, bragged about his alleged power, claiming direct connections with all radio and television station owners in Uganda, and boasting that popular DJs are all on his "speed dial."
"Me you are competing with, I’m not just a friend to the DJs but I’m a friend to all the TV and radio owners in Uganda," he declared. "Before I press the DJ button, I first press the owner’s. I can stop an artist’s song from being played anywhere in Uganda if I wish."
Kenzo Fires Back: "Don't Be Stressed!"
But Eddy Kenzo, never one to shy away from a challenge, has delivered a candid and unapologetic response, dismissing Bebe Cool's remarks as "irrelevant." He’s urging aspiring artists to stay focused and resilient.
When asked for his thoughts by fellow artist Vampino, Kenzo retorted, "Bebe Cool has no control over music airplay in Uganda. We managed to break out while he was there. Don’t be stressed with his comments because they are irrelevant."
It seems the battle for industry dominance is heating up, and Kenzo is making it clear that Bebe Cool's alleged power may be more of a myth than a reality!
