Legendary musician Jackie Chandiru has revealed the singers she considers the best vocalists in Uganda, ranking Sophie Nantongo, Maureen Nantume, and Gloria Bugie as her top choices.
Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, Chandiru—who is widely respected for her vocal range and timeless music—stated that these three musicians possess exceptional vocal abilities that even she cannot match.
“There are people I listen to right now, and the way they sing, I can’t sing like them. I am amazed by Sophie Nantongo, Maureen Nantume, and Gloria Bugie—they are top there vocally,” she explained.
Chandiru further highlighted Gloria Bugie as a standout artist with rare qualities that could propel her to continental recognition when backed by the right production and producer.
“Gloria Bugie has a good voice. She has something unique. With the right production, she can hit a note I can’t reach. She has distinctive qualities vocally that set her apart,” she added.
