Uganda national teachers union, UNATU has demanded that government resolves issues of pension funds immediately so that their retired colleagues who diligently served this country get to receive their pay.

Addressing the media in Kampala today, James Tweheyo the UNATU secretary general said the old men and women are being tortured by district and ministry officials who bounce them every time they show up to demand for their gratuity and pension.

“Despite fulfilling all the necessary verification and verification processes, most of the pensioners have not accessed the payroll for two years, hence their children have been sent away from schools or requested for a dead year” said an angry Tweheyo.

Tweheyo adds that some of the pensioners’ payroll have not been paid since May 2016, and government needs to clearly explain where the problem.
