Former Makerere University Don and currently, Forum for Democratic –FDC party candidate for the Kampala Woman Parliament seat Dr. Stella Nyanzi has been released on bail.

On Monday, the FDC party deputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo said they did not know where Nyazi was being held and that they needed police to release her.

She was arrested at Busia border on Saturday evening while crossing back to the country from Kenya.  

On Monday afternoon, Dr. Nyanzi appeared before Busia Grade One Magistrate, Kaibei Cherotich alongside her political assistant Roy Rugumaya, Derrick Maate and Yusuf Yona, both photographers to answer charges of committing an act likely to cause the spread of an infectious disease.   

She however declined to plead to the charges, saying she will only do so if President Yoweri Museveni and Kabaka Ronald Mutebi who also crossed to Tanzania and Kenya respectively do so.  

Fred Egesa Achoka Nyanzi's lawyer noted that two aides of her client are still missing and that he will file a case against police in case the two are not produced in court immediately.  

Cherotich granted Nyanzi and her aides none cash bail of Shillings 1Million and directed them to report back on October 22, 2020. Police is yet to comment on the matter of the missing people.
