Three people have been killed in an accident on Monday morning when a driver of the vehicle Toyota Passo registration number UBH 182P, from Iganga side rammed into a motorcycle of Bajaj model, with registration number; UFB 502J on which they were travelling.

The deceased include two passengers identified as Dennis Masongole, a passenger aged 18 years and Florence Logose aged 47 years and Joshua Wanga, a motorcycle rider aged 18 years. 

The accident occurred in Magada trading center, in Namutumba district along the Iganga-Mbale highway. 

The Toyota Passo overturned several times, causing the death of all the three people on the motorcycle. Meanwhile, police are yet to arrest the driver whose identity is not known. He fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Bodies of the deceased have been taken to Nsinze health center IV mortuary awaiting postmortem. 

Eyewitnesses say however, that both the driver and the motorcyclist were over speeding, which led to the head on collision, since they were driving in the same lane and there was no room for them to swerve off the road. 

Diana Nandawula the Busoga East police spokesperson noted that the vehicle has been impounded and on conducting a search in the same, eight empty bottles of beer were recovered from the driver's seat, which raises suspicion that the fugitive was over speeding driving under influence of alcohol.
