Two people have been arrested following an attempted robbery at the Coca Cola depot in Kapchorwa.

The suspects have been identified as Ssempija Ismail and Mbazira Juma, residents of Ntinda and Makindye in Kampala.

CP Fred Enanga the police spokesperson told a press beefing at Naguru on Monday morning, that the duo and others still at large, were hired from Kampala to go and carry out the robbery.

However, one of the security guards identified as Onyu David attached to Strat corps security company was very alert and shot at them, injuring Ssempijja, making it easy for the police to capture him alongside Mbazira.

According to Enanga, the two thugs are experts in breaking into people’s properties. They were allegedly hired by one Chemonges Ivan who had rented them a room at one of the lodges in Kapchorwa town, to surveil target places to rob.

He noted that they are expanding investigations into this racket, but also cautioned business owners and companies to be careful in their dealing as some of these robberies are inside jobs.
