The new Ghanaian government of the New Patriotic Party has preferred the attendance of Dr. Kiiza Besigye for the inauguration of president elect Nana Akufo-Addo slated for tomorrow Saturday 7th January 2016.

The party has invited other heads of state from Togo, Gabon, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Benin, Nigeria and Guinea but left out President Yoweri Museveni of the republic of Uganda.

According to the FDC deputy secretary general Harold Kaija, the famous New Patriotic Front party which has been in opposition for a number of years is their ally.

Besigye’s invite is also in relation to his role as the current head of the Democratic Union of Africa, (an alliance of centre-right political parties, majority of which are in opposition in their respective countries.

Dr. Besigye confirmed attendance and is flying in tonight ahead of the ceremony.

It is common of African countries to invite heads of state for such an important ceremony, instead of opposition leaders as is in this case.
