The National Unity Platform has finally announced Parliamentary flag bearers of contested constituencies, allowing Mohammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana to represent the party in the forthcoming general election.

The duo together with Kazibwe Bashir a journalist in Kampala had been put on hold as more consultations were being made. Candidates for 12 other constituencies which were also still under scrutiny have been announced.

Ssegirinya Muhammad will hold the party flag in Kawempe North, Allan Ssewanyana in Makindye West where he is the incumbent while Kazibwe Bashir takes Kawempe South.
However, incumbent Rubaga North MP Kasibante Moses did not get the flag. Kasibante had indicated interest in carrying the party flag as he returns for the same seat. However, this has been handed to one Abubakar Kawalya.

Other party flag bearers include; Ssimbwa Bruhan for Kasambya county in Mubende, Serukenya David for Makindye Ssabagabo, Matovu Charles for Busiro South, Ziriddamu Paul for Lwemiyaga county and Nakiyemba Harriet for Masaka Woman MP among others.

The National Unity Platform Executive Board released the results of the 15 constituencies in the Central Region which were subjected to re-evaluation on Friday afternoon. The candidates are said to have have emerged successful after the second round of evaluation.

“All candidates who are aggrieved by their results have the right to petition the Executive Board within 48 hours from the time of release of the results. A panel has been put in place to handle all appeals expeditiously” the party says.

The Board is slated to release the list of candidates for the Western Region by end of the day.
