Three years, Jackie Chandiru's addiction started with the abuse of Pethidine, a drug that was given to her to ease the pain when she got a back injury. To cope with the pain, she took more than what was prescribed by the doctor.

In 2020, she was taken to Naguru Hospital and Bunamwaya Rehabilitation Centre for treatment, before she was flown out to Kenya for further medical care.

She explained that drug addiction took a big toll on her to the extent that people used it against her mostly on social media.

Chandiru said she is the most cyberbullied artist in Africa and she believes something should be done to put a stop to it.

" Ugandans on social media continue to insult me. Believe me, I am the most bullied artist in Africa. It makes me sad because those that bully me also have their addictions like phones, sex, and others,” she said in an interview with local television.

Jackie Chandiru was a lead singer in the girls' group blu*3 which collapsed.

From the physical healing, Chandiru believes she is now on the journey to fully recover mentally and spiritually.

The singer is back on stage doing what she loves most- singing.
