Caroline Marcah, a personality who has worked with various television companies in Uganda, including Spark Television and Industrial Area-based Bukedde TV, and is currently with Pearl Magic Television, has made strong accusations. She claims that television jobs in Uganda are obtained through sexual favors.
Marcah explained that competent individuals are overlooked, while those who offer sex are hired for these positions.
"Ugandan Television Jobs are sexually transmitted. The jobs are given to people who offer sex; the competent ones aren't offered jobs if they don't give sex to the bosses," she stated.
According to Marcah, this practice is prevalent in almost all Ugandan television companies, and high-ranking bosses are aware of it.
Caroline Marcah also shed light on why she left Spark Television, confirming rumors that she was never paid. She explained that she pioneered several shows for Spark TV—writing scripts, finding locations, shooting content, and launching them—but was ultimately dropped without receiving a single cent.
"After about three months, once the show has gained popularity and attracted sponsors, they start bringing in their own people. You end up working only once a week on a show you created, even without payment. Up to now, some of them are still running," she elaborated.
Furthermore, Caroline Marcah emphasized the presence of witchcraft tendencies at different media houses, claiming various individuals engage in such practices for favors and promotions.
