Musician Spice Diana revealed a few months ago that she is no longer interested in hit songs. She explained that as an established musician, she makes music to remain relevant in the industry.
Spice Diana narrated that she only needed a hit song when she was still fighting for a breakthrough, but she is no longer interested in them.
"Established artistes should stop fighting for a hit. You are past that. I only needed a hit for the breakthrough song. As you grow, you maintain your name to do other things and to keep your career going. You should release music to stay relevant, but not feel pressured to create a hit song," she explained in an interview with a local television station.
However, musician Jowy Landa has come forward to disagree with her opinion, stating that the regular hitmaker still needs hit songs, which is why she invests heavily in her music.
Jowy explained that someone who releases music frequently does so in search of a hit because music production and promotion are expensive.
"She still needs hit songs, and that's why she goes to the studio all the time. Production and promotion are expensive, but she invests in them because she still needs hit songs," she explained.
Jowy Landa has spent the biggest part of this year sending veiled criticisms toward Spice Diana whenever she finds an opportunity to speak publicly.
Upcoming musician Pretty Banks also says Spice Diana is still very much interested in hit songs, which is why she continues to promote her music.
