Sauda Madaada is one of the popular figures in the National Unity Platform (NUP). For years, she has been a familiar presence, often seen alongside Bobi Wine at public events.

However, Madaada faced a setback when she was denied the party's ticket to contest for the position of Woman Councilor for Kampala Central.

Following this, she has cut ties with the party and has chosen to run as an independent candidate.

On Wednesday morning, Sauda Madaada submitted her expression of interest forms to the electoral commission and was nominated for the position.

Addressing the press, Sauda Madaada stated that her decision was influenced by the voters in her constituency. They encouraged her to contest independently after she lost the party flag.

"I have decided to run independently after not receiving the party flag. My voters have already gathered the required signatures and have compelled me to make this move," she explained.

Despite her decision, Sauda Madaada maintains that she has great respect for the party president, Bobi Wine. She also stated that she remains a supporter of the National Unity Platform.

Sauda Madaada is confident of securing a win for the position of Woman Councilor for Kampala Central.
