Tensions in Uganda’s music industry continue to escalate after award-winning star Eddy Kenzo and veteran musician Bebe Cool locked horns following the release of Bebe’s controversial music ranking list last week.
The drama ignited when Bebe Cool openly dismissed Kenzo’s hit song “Nkulowozako,” declaring it unworthy of recognition and undeserving of a spot on his list — comments that did not sit well with the Big Talent boss.
💥 Kenzo Fires Back
In a fiery response, Kenzo launched into a blistering critique of Bebe Cool, accusing him of lacking artistic direction and failing to understand his own audience.
“He is a man who hasn’t discovered himself. He doesn’t know his audience. He can’t tell whether to perform in English or Luganda. He is meandering,” Kenzo stated.
Kenzo further claimed that Bebe Cool’s artistic confusion is the very reason he continues to struggle musically.
🕊️ Apology to the Family
Despite the sharp words, Kenzo later struck a more measured tone, revealing that he had apologised to Bebe Cool’s family for the insults that arose from the exchange.
Kenzo explained that while he respects Bebe’s children — whom he says are all his friends — he often feels provoked by Bebe’s demeaning remarks.
“He has failed to release good music. We work tirelessly to do so, and he comes out speaking trash. I feel sorry for his children because they are all my friends. I actually apologise to his family over my comments, but he forces me to do so,” Kenzo added.
🎭 Industry Watches Closely
As the standoff between the two musical heavyweights intensifies, fans and industry insiders are watching closely to see whether this war of words will cool down — or spiral into an even bigger public fallout.
