Gagamel boss Bebe Cool has made a bold revelation, claiming he played a key role in convincing Norbert Mao to join the NRM government.
Speaking during a live TikTok session, Bebe Cool said it was through a series of personal meetings and discussions that he managed to influence Mao’s decision to work with the ruling party.
According to the singer, Mao is one of the smartest politicians Uganda has and his presence in government is a big plus for President Yoweri Museveni.
“Mao is a very intelligent person. I personally asked him to join President Museveni and work with government. I convinced him because we used to meet and discuss various topics,” Bebe Cool explained in an interview with a local television station.
The outspoken singer praised Mao for his deep understanding of politics, saying it’s only right that such a brain is utilized within government.
Norbert Mao is currently serving as Uganda’s Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, a position he took up after his Democratic Party entered into a cooperation agreement with the NRM.
He is also reportedly eyeing the powerful position of Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, making him one of the key political figures to watch ahead of the next parliamentary leadership reshuffle.
Bebe Cool’s comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some praising his influence in political circles, while others question how much credit a musician should take in such major political decisions.
