Events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, popularly known as Abitex, says Ray G's successful concert at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds has elevated the Western Uganda singer into the ranks of Uganda's biggest music stars.
According to Abitex, Ray G's performance at Kololo demonstrated a level of popularity and fan support that puts him in direct competition with established stars such as Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine.
"Ray G is now in competition with Chameleone and Bobi Wine. He is such a big force to reckon with; no one has done what he did at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds," Abitex said.
The promoter, who was involved in Ray G's Kololo concert, further suggested that the singer has now moved ahead of other established artists, including Bebe Cool, Eddy Kenzo and King Saha.
His comments have sparked debate among music fans and industry stakeholders, particularly supporters of the artists Abitex believes Ray G has surpassed.
Ray G's Kololo concert has nevertheless strengthened his profile on the national stage, coming after years of building a strong following in Western Uganda.
