City socialite and businessman Frank Gashumba has stirred up debate after naming the four Ugandan musicians he considers the wisest in the country's music industry.
Gashumba singled out legendary singer Jose Chameleone, King Saha, A Pass and Silver Kyagulanyi, describing them as a rare breed because of their intelligence, experience and approach to life.
Speaking while discussing Uganda's music industry, Gashumba said the country has very few musicians he considers genuinely wise.
“In Uganda, we have very few wise musicians and I speak this with much authority. They are Chameleone, A Pass, Silver Kyagulanyi and King Saha. Those ones are a rare breed in the music industry,” he partly said.
Who Made Gashumba's List?
Gashumba's list brings together musicians from different generations and musical backgrounds, from Chameleone's decades-long career to the more contemporary careers of King Saha and A Pass.
Silver Kyagulanyi, meanwhile, is recognised not only as a musician but also for his work as a songwriter and his involvement in Uganda's music industry.
Fans Debate His Picks
Gashumba's comments have already sparked discussion among music fans, with some agreeing with his choices while others questioning why several other established artistes were left off the list.
