Musician Eddy Kenzo has praised Bobi Wine for his songwriting and ability to turn stories into music, describing his approach as unique.
Speaking in a recent interview, Kenzo reflected on his early days in music and recalled how much he admired Bobi Wine’s songwriting while performing at karaoke events.
“I always admired Bobi Wine, and when performing during my karaoke days, I often performed his song ‘Wendi’. I loved how Bobi Wine wrote his music,” he said.
Kenzo further praised Bobi Wine’s composition skills, saying his songs leave a lasting impression because of the way he delivers stories through music.
“He is a good composer, and when you listen to the stories he composes, he leaves a wow factor. He also delivers his stories musically, very uniquely in an urban way,” he added.
Kenzo also acknowledged Bebe Cool’s musical ability but said the singer’s music did not have the same reach in the communities where he grew up.
“Bebe Cool has always been a good musician, but I was from the ghetto, and his reach wasn’t very good there. He was more of an urban artist, so we didn’t receive him well in the ghettos,” he said.
Kenzo’s comments offer a glimpse into some of the musical influences that shaped his early career, while highlighting the different styles he associates with two of Uganda’s established musicians.
