Flashbang (a.k.a Remy) is a pioneering artist from Western Uganda, widely respected for his
impact on Runyankore music and his evolution as a creative force in Uganda’s music
industry.
He first gained recognition as part of the Uptown duo know for the hit song Facebook Lover,
where he built a strong foundation in the music scene. After over a decade working behind
the scenes refining his craft, writing, and contributing to the growth of western music, he has
re-emerged with a powerful rebrand as Flashbang.
Now stepping into a bold new era, Flashbang introduces a fresh and distinctive sound known
as Afro Romantic, a genre that fuses Afrobeat rhythms with soulful love melodies, deeply
rooted in Runyankore culture and modern African expression.
This new sound is being shaped in collaboration with top-tier creatives, including renowned
producer Ricky Miles and legendary guitarist AfroMenco, bringing a rich musical texture and
global appeal to his work.
Flashbang is best known for his song “Onyekundire” on YouTube, a standout track that
captures his signature romantic groove, smooth vocals, and bilingual artistry in Runyankore
and English. His music speaks to love, emotion, and identity, making it relatable across
diverse audiences.
In addition to his artistry, Flashbang has played a key role in uplifting the Western Uganda
music industry, notably through his association with Posha Ug, where he has contributed to
promoting local talent and expanding the region’s influence.
